From the back of the CD:

We were in the studio in late January this year recorded our new album when we heard the news about Andrew Farrar’s death. We received a copy of the letter Andrew wrote to his mother before he passed away in which he asked that is anything should happen to him he wanted the Dropkick Murphys’ version of “Fields of Athenry” to be played at his funeral. Excerpts from that letter were later incorporated into one of the songs we were working on “Last Letter Home”. After hearing this tragic news we offered to come to Andrew’s funeral and perform “Fields of Athenry” and we also recorded a new ballad style of the song in Andrew’s honor. There were only three copies made of that recording; one placed in Andrew’s casket, the second was given to Andrew’s mother, and the third to his wife. We recently heard about a memorial fund Andrew’s family set up to benefit his two sons Liam Patrick & Tyler Andrew and we thought we could help raise some money by releasing a copy of the recording we did for Andrew’s funeral and donating 100% of the proceeds to the memorial fund.
