How’s it going everybody, click here to see DKM on the front cover of this month’s Improper Bostonian Magazine as part of their “Boston’s Best” issue. Who in their right mind puts a bunch of ugly mugs like us on their cover?! Thanks Improper Bostonian.

The people at the magazine were so nice to us that they were also able to sweet talk us into writing a brand new song for them. You can read some of the lyrics in the magazine & we will posting an acoustic demo version of the song on our website soon.

We have been working on the recording while we’ve been on tour and were hoping to post the song online today but looks like it will be in a few more days. Gotta concentrate on having fun at our hometown shows.

The song is called “The Chosen Few” and it’s a tongue and cheek take on what our city really thinks of “Bostons Best”. Who knows if you all like maybe we’ll do a proper recording of it someday!

Enjoy your weekend. Today we were presented with a “Key to the City” by Mayor Ed Suslovic in Portland ME. [news story here] what a great start to the weekend for us. Might have to celebrate that honor partying it up tonight. Thanks to all our fans in Portland, Maine & everyone from the Mayor’s office for their hospitality, we promise to only use the key for good not evil!

The show on July 11th scheduled for Hadlock Field has been moved to Cumberland County Civic Center due to some issues we had getting the show set up in a way we thought the fans would be happy with.

The Portland Seadogs have a game the night before the show which meant we would have had a very short amount of time to set up the stage, lights & sound. This in turn meant we needed to have more crew working on the grounds and the stage and production had to be driven onto the field with trucks. The groundskeepers at the park had serious concerns about what this might do to the condition of the field in the middle of the season so they suggested a different layout. The new proposed layout had the stage further away from the seats and on an angle. We wouldn’t have been happy putting on a DKM show like that where the audience would have been so far away from the band or in a spot where it might be difficult to watch the show.

The other two baseball park shows are good to go as we are able to bring our production in much earlier and have time to carry all the equipment onto the field, leaving less of a footprint on the park grounds. We are able to put the stage, lights and speakers where we need it to be to make two great shows.

Fortunately the Cumberland County Civic Center which is just around the corner from Hadlock Field is available & we are able to easily move the production into that venue & put on a better show that we think you guys will be much happier with.

Any tickets you have are still valid so no need to do anything, no need to swap them out or change them. All tickets that say Hadlock Field will be good at the Civic Center. Also, the good news is that the Civic Center is all general admission so those people who held off buying tickets for Hadlock Field as they did not want reserved seating can now get the GA tickets they were after. Here are the new details:

Thanks to everyone that came out to see us in Australia, Japan & Honolulu. The tour was awesome & we had a blast visiting some of our favorite cities. A bunch of us ended the tour with some much needed R&R in Hawaii but we’re back on track now & getting ready for our US tour starting in Philly on the 28th. Looking forward to the shows with the Bosstones, the minor league baseball park dates are going to be a great time. We’ve also added a couple more club shows to that tour please see new dates below. Lastly, we’re very excited to announce we will be going to Mexico in July playing shows in Mexico City & Monterey. Details about those shows will be announced in the next few days.

As some of you may remember several weeks ago, Dropkick Murphys asked for your help in supporting a fundraising effort on behalf of our friend Brendan Brady: www.brendanbrady.org. Well, we are here to say that as always you guys continue to blow our mind. The outpouring of support, letters of encouragement, and financial assistance you showed the Brady family exceeded our expectations tenfold. It is truly an amazing honor to have you folks as fans and friends. It’s such a great feeling in this day and age to be part of something like this and to have people like you in our lives. Thanks in large part to all of you, Brendan will be able to receive the evaluations, treatment and resources he needs to further his growth and development.
